Former Alabama LB Shawn Jennings will transfer to an in-state school.

Jennings announced Wednesday via his Twitter account that he was heading to South Alabama. The redshirt freshman elected to transfer from Alabama earlier this month. He was a member of the Tide’s 2016 recruiting class.

The Dadeville, Alabama, native was rated a 3-star prospect exiting high school.

Jennings originally signed with Alabama over offers from Auburn and Memphis, among others. His older brother, Anfernee Jennings, still plays for Alabama.

South Alabama, of course, is the team that upset Mississippi State 21-20 last season. The Jaguars finished 6-7 overall and eighth in the Sun Belt Conference.
