Many people believe the Miami Dolphins are “Tanking for Tua,” as they continue to lose, seemingly on purpose, to put themselves in a better draft position to ultimately select the Alabama quarterback.

Former NFL kicker Lawrence Tynes tweeted during the Alabama-Texas A&M game and was evidently not impressed with Tua Tagovailoa.

“The tank for Tua thing is a joke right,” Tynes wrote. “This cat will not be a starter in the NFL. No way no how. I’d take him in the 5-7th round as a back up at best. Great kid but he is all hype on a superior team with superior talent.”

Tagovailoa is widely viewed as one of the top quarterbacks in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Tagovailoa had 4 touchdowns on Saturday in the 47-28 win over Texas A&M. He threw his first interception, but also became the career passing touchdown leader at Alabama with 81, and has 27 this season, which leads America. His touchdowns on Saturday went to 4 different receivers.

Tagovailoa has passed for 2,011 yards with a 73.6 completion percentage.

Tagovailoa was listed as the top QB in CBS Sports mock drafts by two analysts. He’s often mentioned alongside Oregon QB Justin Herbert.

Tagovailoa technically hasn’t revealed his plans for the NFL Draft as a draft-eligible junior, but it would be difficult to believe he would return to school if he was thought to be a top pick.
