Gary Danielson sees No. 11 Alabama (4-1) going old school against Texas A&M (4-1) in the Saturday showdown he’ll call for CBS.

“This week, it seems to me, the two offensive lines will be responsible for allowing the quarterback to be whatever he can be on both teams,” Danielson told The Tuscaloosa News this week.” “If they don’t get the play up front, I don’t know if either quarterback is going to have enough firepower within the offense to really make a difference in the game.”

Alabama’s offensive line has shown promise amid 363.2 yards in total offense per game, but the Crimson Tide have allowed 17 sacks thus far. Texas A&M has strengths on the defensive front with 9 fumbles thus far but only 7 sacks.

Texas A&M has a dynamic offense with 38.6 points and 443.4 yards per game. However, the offensive line has surrendered 20 sacks this season, and that’s with Louisiana Monroe and New Mexico on the early-season schedule.

Alabama’s defensive front has 20 sacks this season, but the Crimson Tide also give up 298.2 yards per game and 14.2 points per game. That’s factoring smaller FBS teams South Florida and Middle Tennessee State on the schedule.

“Both defensive lines and edge rushers are so advanced. To me, this is a good old fashioned 2015 Alabama game where their offensive line and defensive line dominated games. They need to step up. They’ve been improving, but they need to step it up one more step in this game because they’re facing a really talented front for Texas A&M,” Danielson said.
