One of the hottest topics of the preseason was the conflict and harsh words between Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban that took center stage in the national media. Former Texas A&M and Alabama head coach Gene Stallings had some thoughts on that ahead of the showdown between the two squads.

AL.com’s Mark Heim shared what Stallings had to say about Saturday’s game when he appeared on “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 in Mobile

“The less you say, the less you have to take back,” Stallings said. “Jimbo has said a few things about Alabama that I imagine he’d like to take back, but you can’t.”

Stallings, who has obviously spent time at and has had some success with both programs, sees this being a competitive game. He did add, though, that he thinks Alabama is the better team.

“I think it’s going to be a tough game,” Stallings said. “Anytime you lose a guy that won the Heisman (in Alabama quarterback Bryce Young), you’ve got to step back a little bit. They’ve lost a lot of good players in the past, and they’ve always had someone to take their place.”

Alabama and Texas A&M are set to kick off at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
