Germie Bernard to return to Alabama for 2025, per report

Germie Bernard is looking to run it back at Alabama for one more year in 2025. The veteran receiver revealed his decision to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
According to Thamel’s reporting, Bernard considered entering the 2025 NFL Draft. Instead, he’s returning for another year under Kalen DeBoer and the chance to be a leader at Alabama.
“I know with the people coming back and the newcomers coming in, just being able to have this season to be a leader,” said Bernard. “I think we’ll make it really far this year.”
Bernard’s return is a major piece of Alabama football news for DeBoer entering what feels like a pivotal Year 2 with the program.
Germie Bernard played for Michigan State in 2022 but was a key piece for DeBoer’s Washington team in 2023 that made it all the way to the national championship game. In spite of playing on a loaded roster that included Rome Odunze, Ja’lynn Polk and Jalen McMillan, Bernard recorded 34 catches for 419 yards and 2 touchdowns with the Huskies.
During his first season in Tuscaloosa, Bernard led the team with 50 catches. He finished 2nd to Ryan Williams with 794 receiving yards on the season and had 2 more touchdown catches.
Together, Bernard and Williams should provide a strong attack for whoever steps in as the starting quarterback for Alabama with Jalen Milroe off to the NFL Draft.
