Greg McElroy knows that Alabama’s got issues. He discussed what has been going on with Alabama in the last couple of weeks on Always College Football.
One of the main problems that McElroy pointed out was the bad offensive line play.
“Alabama’s got issues. Alabama’s got a lot of issues. The offensive line continues to be a huge liability in pass protection,” said McElroy. “They weren’t able to move guys off the ball as often as they should. Credit to South Florida, but Alabama’s got a whole host of issues.”
Much like Crimson Tide fans, McElroy shared his disappointment for how Tyler Buchner played. Ty Simpson impressed McElroy with some things, however.
“Based on what we saw today, it looks like Tyler Buchner’s not gonna be a factor in that quarterback race anymore. He looked erratic, uncomfortable, and inaccurate. He didn’t do a lot to inspire a lot of confidence. Ty Simpson did do some good things, but the protection on the left side of the line in particular is gonna be something they have to address at some point.”
Alabama has a chance to redeem itself in Week 4 with Ole Miss coming to town. The Rebels beat Georgia Tech 48-23 in their last game.
Kickoff from Bryant-Denny Stadium will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
