Greg McElroy participated in the big Alabama-LSU rivalry during his playing days, and he understands how difficult it is for road teams to win a road game at Death Valley.

Alabama had not been playing great the past few weeks, but the Crimson Tide got things rolling 2 weeks ago in a 34-0 win against Missouri. They carried that momentum into Death Valley on Saturday night, where they defeated the Tigers 42-13.

Quarterback Jalen Milroe rushed for 185 yards and 4 touchdowns, and McElroy on his college football show ‘Always College Football’ said it was a vintage performance for Alabama.

“This was a vintage Alabama performance,” McElroy said. “If not for the late touchdown, this was as good of a defensive performance as I’ve seen from Alabama in quite some time.  I don’t recall the last time a Nick Saban-coached team went to Baton Rouge and completely shut them down. This was a tremendous performance on both sides of the ball from Alabama. Alabama’s coaching staff takes a backseat to almost nobody. I don’t know if they’re the best, but Kalen DeBoer with an extra week to prepare, good luck.”

With the win, Alabama is back on the right side of things when it comes to making the College Football Playoff and the SEC Championship.

The Crimson Tide have a manageable schedule the rest of the way, as they play Mercer next week. They end the season with SEC games at Oklahoma and then host Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
