When people talk about this year’s Heisman Trophy, Penn State RB Saquon Barkley is the current favorite.

Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield and Stanford RB Bryce Love are other favorites, but there’s not much hype around Alabama QB Jalen Hurts.

All Hurts has done is lead the No. 1 Crimson Tide to a perfect 6-0 record while putting up 870 passing yards, 517 rushing yards and 12 total touchdowns. Oh, and he hasn’t turned the ball over at all.

That’s why ESPN broadcaster Tommy Tuberville thinks Hurts deserves more Heisman hype. He said on Saturday during the Tennessee-South Carolina game that he doesn’t understand why Hurts isn’t generating more buzz (via 247Sports):

“Where is Jalen Hurts? I don’t understand it,” Tuberville said. “This guy never loses a game (except for) the championship game last year. Man, he is so consistent. We’re picking these people that make a lot of turnovers. I don’t get it.”

Tuberville is right — the sophomore quarterback deserves to be in the Heisman conversation.

If he can start putting up a little more eye-popping numbers while still leading Alabama to an undefeated record, he may earn an invitation to New York City for the Heisman ceremony before all is said and done.
