Jalen Milroe had a pretty good Sunday night.

After finding out he’d helped lead Alabama back into the College Football Playoff on Sunday morning, Milroe was named the team’s Most Valuable Player at Alabama’s annual awards banquet later that evening. His teammates also voted him the Most Inspiring Player.

Milroe was also named a permanent captain by his teammates, alongside safety Malachi Moore and linebacker Dallas Turner.

Milroe’s season has been remarkable for the Crimson Tide.

Installed as the starter prior to the season, Milroe was benched after the loss to Texas. He threw two interceptions that day, and watched from the sideline a week later as Ty Simpson and Tyler Buchner led Alabama to a 17-3 win over South Florida.

Milroe came back a week later against Ole Miss and Alabama hasn’t lost since.

The redshirt sophomore produced 374 yards of offense and four rushing touchdowns in the win over LSU. He had 259 yards passing, 107 yards rushing, and the miraculous touchdown to win the game in the Iron Bowl. Then, on Saturday, Milroe helped Alabama to a 27-24 win over Georgia.

Alabama will next face Michigan in the 1-4 matchup of the College Football Playoff. Milroe will look to lead the Tide to a 12th consecutive victory on Jan. 1 at 5 p.m. ET.
