Jam Miller just scored a touchdown to cut Alabama’s deficit against Vanderbilt to 6. That felt really strange to type.

But regardless, it’s true. Alabama football now trails Vanderbilt 13-7 following an 8-yard rush by Miller, capping off a strong drive and a strong response following Vanderbilt’s Pick-6 the possession prior.

Here’s a look at Alabama’s opening score of Week 6:

Miller has been a weapon for Alabama this season, so it’s no surprise he was able to stop the bleeding here. He’s found the end zone 4 times so far this year and has rushed for just under 300 yards on 36 carries. These stats include Saturday’s game.

As you can tell, Alabama has been a bit surprised by Vanderbilt’s start here. This is the first time the Commodores have led Alabama since 2006 and, incredibly, the first time they’ve scored a touchdown on the Crimson Tide since 2007. Folks, that’s around the time the iPhone was invented.

The Commodores went 75 yards to start the game 7-0 before the following Pick-Six:

Now comes the most important question. Can Vanderbilt get out of their own way, or will Alabama return to dominant form in the 2nd quarter? History tells us one thing, let’s see what happens.
