It looks like Jarran Reed did not need long in free agency to find a new team.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday, per a source, that Reed is signing a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Rapoport reports Reed is guaranteed $5 million with the deal worth up to $7 million.

In his tweet with the terms of the deal, Rapoport added, “Had it been about the money, he would’ve stayed in Seattle.”

Reed’s release from Seattle was described as a salary cup “casualty” with the Seahawks looking to free up cap space. Reed was reportedly unwilling to restructure his contract for the short term without a long-term deal from the Seahawks. He was ultimately released Friday afternoon.

The No. 49 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Reed has played in 72 games during his NFL career, including 63 starts. This past season, Reed recorded 6.5 sacks, 38 tackles (5 TFL) and 14 quarterback hits, starting all 16 games. In 2018, he had a career-high 10.5 sacks.
