Javian Davis has made his transfer decision and the former Alabama forward plans to remain in the Southeastern Conference.

Less than three weeks after entering the NCAA transfer portal, Davis is planning to transfer to Mississippi State.

During his redshirt freshman season in 2019-20, Davis appeared in 31 games for the Crimson Tide during Nate Oats’ first season in Tuscaloosa. Davis averaged six points, 3.8 rebounds and half an assist per contests last season and made 14 starts during that time.

“What’s up Crimson Tide family! I just wanted to inform you guys that I will be entering my name in the transfer portal with the option of returning to the University of Alabama. I want to thank everyone whose been in my corner since I’ve been here,” Davis said originally when he announced his decision to enter the NCAA portal.

On Monday, the Canton, Miss., native announced his decision to return to his home state.

Considering he is returning to his home state, it will be interesting to see if the NCAA grants Davis a waiver to play immediately next season. Given the unique circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the NCAA may be willing to hand out more waivers for players desiring to play closer to home.
