Jaylen Mbakwe put on a spectacular show on Thursday night on his 18th birthday in front of a nationally televised audience. The 5-star Alabama commit guided Clay-Chalkville to a 36-33 upset victory vs. Thompson broadcasted on ESPN2.

During the win, the ATH Mbakwe completed 10 of his 13 passes for 100 yards along with rushing for 168 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Mbakwe beamed afterwards that this was his best birthday by far. Clay-Chalkville remains undefeated at 6-0 as Mbakwe emerges as a viable candidate for Mr. Football in Alabama.

“This is most definitely number one,” Mbakwe said. “Going out with five touchdowns, playing for my dad and grandad on our birthday, having an o-line behind me to do it together.”

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Mbakwe is considered to be the nation’s top ATH, the No. 18 player in the country, and the No. 2 player from Alabama in the Class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite.

“Displays excellent athleticism in all three-phases of the game,” 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Cooper Petagna said. “Bonafide playmaker that has game changing ability in every phase of the game and has the potential to be a day one NFL Draft choice.”

No. 12 Alabama will travel to Mississippi State in Week 5 for a primetime SEC West showdown (9 p.m. EST/ESPN).
