Former Alabama standout pass rusher Courtney Upshaw will be looking for a new NFL home.

The New York Jets announced Saturday that they have released Upshaw and signed his replacement Shaneil Jenkins.

The Jets originally signed Upshaw in June after he turned a tryout into a contract; however, things have changed on the Jets’ side. Prior to joining the Jets, Upshaw spent the last two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons after previously spending four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens originally drafted Upshaw in the 2nd round of the 2012 NFL Draft, signing a $5.2 million contract with over $3.5 million guaranteed. In six career NFL seasons, he’s recorded 216 tackles and seven sacks. Upshaw has played in two Super Bowls, and he has a ring with the Ravens.

At Alabama, Upshaw recorded 35.5 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks in his four-year career.

It’ll be interesting to see if another team gives Upshaw a shot.
