Jimmy Johnson tears into Panthers owner after Bryce Young benching: ‘Quit playing fantasy football’
Jimmy Johnson has seen a lot of football during his lifetime and led the Dallas Cowboys to 2-consecutive Super Bowl wins in 1992 and 1993.
It’s safe to say Johnson — who has served as an analyst for FOX since his coaching career came to an end in 1999 — knows a thing or two about managing a NFL roster.
On the FOX NFL pregame show ahead of Sunday’s 1PM kickoffs, Johnson made a point to voice his opinion about the Panthers’ decision to bench QB Bryce Young — who they drafted last year with the No. 1 overall pick.
While Carolina head coach Dave Canales said publicly the decision to bench Young was his, Johnson blames the Panthers’ owner, David Tepper, for the controversial move.
“The owner of the Carolina Panthers,” Johnson said. “That’s the problem … he’s making the decisions without listening to the football people. He has got to listen to his football people and quit playing fantasy football.”

Johnson went on to listen to a bevy of moves that have taken place under Tepper’s watch including trading Christian McCaffrey, DJ Moore, Brian Burns and firing multiple coaches too quickly.
Carolina will take on the Las Vegas Raiders with Andy Dalton under center at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Jimmy Johnson would have more rings if Jerry Jones wasn’t a joke-he knows the score
Jimmy sounds like a guy with experience on dealing with a meddlesome owner.
