Joel Klatt called it a big deal, and noted that in terms of Alabama coordinator openings, “they generally work out.”

The FOX Sports analyst described it this way: “If you’re going to go work for Nick Saban, that’s one of the best jobs in America. So now, all of a sudden, maybe the 2 best coordinator jobs in America are open.”

Klatt said whoever Saban chooses is going to be right for Alabama because the coach won’t change anything.

“Whoever comes in will have to assimilate to the culture that Nick Saban has already built,” Klatt said. “So that’s an important point. This is not something that needs to be fixed. … This is why all of these reclamation projects have succeeded.”

Klatt later called the coach in that role as a “cog in the system.”

“There is some excitement around getting fresh blood and a new set of eyes in at Alabama,” he said. “The one area I trust the most is that it’s still Nick Saban.”
