Alabama missed out on the College Football Playoff in 2022.

The Crimson Tide, however, still finished 11-2 in what many considered a down year after beating Kansas State soundly in the Sugar Bowl, 45-20.

There were some who believed Alabama deserved CFP consideration this season given that its only 2 loses came on the final play in road games at LSU and Tennessee.

One analyst who consistently said the Crimson Tide didn’t warrant consideration was Joel Klatt of Fox Sports.

On Wednesday’s edition of the “Joel Klatt Show,” Klatt discussed Alabama’s win over the Wildcats and its chances of returning to the CFP next season.

“Alabama went out there and didn’t look great early but then turned it on,” Klatt said. “That was a dominant performance. Alabama is one of the best teams int he country. Nobody disputes that.

“I still stand by exactly what I said last week; I do think that this is a very disappointing season for Alabama and Alabama fans. I don’t think there’s any way around that based on the expectations that they had coming into the season.”

Klatt, however, believes the Crimson Tide will be squarely in the mix to win another national title next year, thanks in large part to Nick Saban and the talent level in the program.

“Is it going to be a changing of the guard at Alabama? Yes. It absolutely is,” Klatt said. “Now, what they can rest on is that they have done this time and time again. Remember, since Nick Saban won his first title at Alabama, they have not gone three years without a title.

“So next year is that year. The biggest draught that they’ve had has been two seasons. … Do I think they’re going to be good? Yeah, they’re going to be damn good. There’s no doubt in mind.”
