Joel Klatt was thoroughly pleased with the College Football Playoff games that took place on Monday, especially the Rose Bowl.

The game had everyone on their feet until it was eventually decided in overtime by Michigan. Klatt thought at first that the matchups had the chance to be exciting and was glad that they were.

“Michigan and Alabama play an absolute thriller in the Rose Bowl,” he said on the latest edition of The Joel Klatt Show. “All of us hoped that these games would be really good and when the playoff came down a lot of us were saying, myself included, that these matchups could be epic matchups and that this was part of the reason why the 4 teams that were included were included because these were gonna be the best matchups.”

The storylines ahead of kickoff also helped make the game great, with Michigan looking to finally get over the hump and Alabama surging after killing Georgia’s win streak. Klatt noted that the game definitely had its faults, but for fans of college football it was a fantastic game to see.

“Michigan comes in undefeated. Alabama comes in after beating undefeated Georgia, ending a 29-game winning streak to the back-to-back national champions,” said Klatt. “They played an unreal football game. Now, was it sloppy at times? Yes. Was it the perfect game? No. But, man that was entertaining. For anybody that loves the sport that was an incredible watch.”
