Alabama’s domination of the college football world may not be ending anytime soon.

That was Joel Klatt’s No. 1 takeaway from Week 1 of the 2021 season. During an appearance on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Wednesday, Klatt marveled over the Crimson Tide, who opened the year with an easy win over Miami. The FOX Sports analyst came away quite impressed.

Despite losing Mac Jones, Najee Harris, DeVonta Smith and others, Alabama’s offense didn’t miss a beat with sophomore quarterback Bryce Young now at the helm, which Klatt was quick to note.

“And here they are, and they’re just the same,” Klatt said on the show. “The level of excellence at Alabama is totally unmatched. And I think that’s the 1 thing out of Week 1 if you were to ask me, ‘What was your biggest takeaway at the top of college football?’ It was that no one’s really ready to unseat Alabama.

“Now whether they win the national championship or not remains to be seen. Injuries play a factor, they lost a linebacker [Christopher Allen] for the season. But no one’s ready to prepare like they do, to execute like they do.”

Klatt shared that he recently had a conversation with Oregon head coach/former Alabama assistant Mario Cristobal, who succinctly summed up why Alabama is always so strong.

“He said, ‘At Alabama, for those players and the staff, every day is a reckoning.'” Klatt said.

So, it may be another big year for the No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide. Don’t be surprised if they keep on rolling throughout the season.

That includes this Saturday, when Alabama hosts Mercer for its home opener at 4 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
