John Parker Wilson understands there’s several candidates for “most explosive player” on the Alabama roster, but one stands out.

Quarterback Jalen Milroe.

Wilson, on with “McElroy and Cubelic In the morning” on WJOX, noted that the running backs, Jase McClellan Jr. and Roydell Williams, “do some special things,” and he’s excited to see Justice Haynes.

“It’d be Milroe, we saw what he did last year, we saw how he can break away when he gets into the open field, the speed that he has, probably the fastest, or one of the fastest guys on the team,” Wilson said. “I think it’s a huge bonus for him as he’s going into this quarterback battle because he’s got an extra gear that truthfully, probably nobody else on the offense has. That’s a huge weapon for the offense, for Tommy Rees. I think it’ll be a big part of the game plan here next week.”

Milroe is believed to be leading the quarterback competition with Ty Simpson, and those close to the program, such as Greg McElroy, believes Tyler Buchner is a distant third in the QB race. Dylan Lonergan has shown flashes but might not contribute until later in the season.
