Oklahoma native Josh Jacobs really struggled growing up but he admits that the issues he faced during his adolescence, including homelessness, have helped shape him into the man he is today.

Not many recruits rated as a three-star high school prospect go on to star at Alabama or rank as the top player at their position in an NFL Draft but the way Jacobs tells it, any challenge thrown his way in the sports world is nothing he can’t deal with following his upbringing.

Jacobs was a recent guest on NFL Network morning show “Good Morning Football” and shared a little background on the challenges he faced coming out of Tulsa, Okla. The Sooners not really recruiting him out of McLain High School may have hurt at the time but it was nothing compared to the struggles he dealt with leading up to deciding to play for Alabama.

During his three years at Alabama, Jacobs rushed for 1,491 yards and 16 touchdowns and registered 48 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns. While those numbers may not jump off the page, Jacobs was on campus with some incredibly talented running backs and had to share the load during his time in Tuscaloosa. After declaring early for the 2019 NFL Draft, his measurables ranked among the top in the entire class, resulting in his stock skyrocketing.

Most draft analysts project Jacobs to now be the first back taken in the 2019 NFL Draft. Aside from an incredible athlete, Jacobs explains the type of person the NFL team is getting that selects him in the upcoming draft:
