Kalen DeBoer is becoming more popular by the day with Alabama fans, and this time, he got the crowd fired up at a basketball game on Tuesday night.

“We’ve got a lot of great news coming out, whether it’s recruiting or our staff,” the new Alabama coach said. “I can’t wait to ingrain myself in this community, what a special place. The standard is Alabama.”

DeBoer has been busy in his early days as Alabama’s coach building his new staff. He’s brought several coaches from his Washington staff, which helped lead the Huskies to the national championship game. But a pair of notable hires in recently days have reportedly been sitting FBS head coaches.

DeBoer also plans to mix his Washington staff, with coaches who have roots in the Southeast.

“There will be a touch of Washington in there, but I understand there needs to be some SEC ties,” DeBoer said. “Some Southeast ties that can help bridge the gap.”

DeBoer embraced the chance to replace Nick Saban at Alabama, and at his introductory press conference promised the former coach “100 percent access” to the program.
