Kalen DeBoer reportedly turns to Washington assistant to fill final spot on Alabama staff
Kalen DeBoer is reportedly bringing another familiar face to Tuscaloosa. John Brice of FootballScoop reports that Washington co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach William Inge is set to join DeBoer’s Alabama coaching staff.
Per Brice, Inge is expected to work with Alabama’s linebackers. Inge, who turned 50 in December, has over two decades of coaching experience.
In addition to his familiarity with DeBoer, Inge has also worked with Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kane Wommack. Inge and Wommack were on staff at Indiana together during the 2018 and ’19 seasons. DeBoer was the Hoosiers’ offensive coordinator in 2019 while Nick Sheridan coached tight ends.

Inge got his start at Iowa, his alma mater, as a graduate assistant and recruiting coordinator from 1998-to-2000. He has coached college defenders at Northern Iowa, Colorado, San Diego State, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Indiana, Fresno State and Washington.
Inge also spent a season with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills as an assistant defensive line coach in 2012. In addition to coaching defensive line and linebackers, Inge also has experience coaching special teams at Northern Iowa (2004) and Indiana (2018-19).
With Inge on board, DeBoer will have filled his on-field coaching staff in time for spring practice. Crimson Tide fans will be back in Bryant-Denny Stadium to get an up-close look at DeBoer’s team on April 13 for the A-Day spring game.
