Texas and Alabama are gearing up for a rematch in the 2023 season from a dramatic showdown a season ago. On Tuesday, the kickoff time and broadcast details were set for the Longhorns’ visit to Tuscaloosa.

The two sides will face off Sept. 9 with a 7 pm ET (6 pm CT) kickoff on ESPN. That is likely a welcome sight for many after an 11 am local time kickoff for two teams as a part of FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff during the 2022 season.

The sides battled in a dramatic showdown last season with Bryce Young leading a clutch drive for a game-winning field goal with 10 seconds to go in the game. Quinn Ewers also shined early for the Longhorns before leaving the game due to injury.

This season’s matchup also carries a fair amount of intrigue for both sides. The Week 2 showdown will be the first real test for either side as Texas and Alabama open the year with Rice and Middle Tennessee State, respectively.

As for Nick Saban’s squad, the Crimson Tide are searching for a replacement to No. 1 draft pick Bryce Young under center. Alabama is also looking to get back into the College Football Playoff after a rare miss in 2022.

At Texas, Steve Sarkisian is looking for the program’s first season with 9+ wins since 2018. All eyes will also be on the QB position to see if Ewers can develop into a star while trying to hold off newcomer Arch Manning for the starting position.
