Alabama is No. 2 in the latest College Football Playoff selection committee rankings, but Kirk Herbstreit isn’t so sure the Crimson Tide will make the field of four to play for the national championship.

“Bama’s vulnerable,” Herbstreit said during the rankings reveal.

Herbstreit made his comment when discussing the 11-15 portion of the rankings which includes Texas A&M (No. 11) and Ole Miss (No. 15). Herbstreit noted that it isn’t a foregone conclusion that Alabama faces No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

Alabama has 2 SEC games remaining on its schedule after playing New Mexico State Saturday. The Crimson Tide hosts No. 25 Arkansas on Nov. 20. The following week, UA closes out the 2021 regular season at No. 17 Auburn.

Nick Saban’s squad has lost 3 of its last 4 games at Auburn (2013, 2017, 2019). It’s a good sign when UA can beat Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Crimson Tide won at Auburn in 2009, 2011 and 2015 en route to winning the national championship.
