Alabama has cruised to a 2-0 start with lopsided victories over Duke (42-3) and New Mexico State (62-10).

In those first two wins, Crimson Tide QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 76.4 percent of his passes (42-of-55) for 563 yards (10.2 yards per attempt), 7 TD and no interceptions. During ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday, Kirk Herbstreit identified one area where he thinks coach Nick Saban wants to see Tagovailoa’s supporting cast step up.

“You know one thing that might be getting underneath his skin a bit is the offensive line,” Herbstreit said, “and a lack of a running game by their standards. You get into those big SEC games including today on the road at Columbia. That’s where you want to see it. We know all about Tua and the beautiful receivers. But for Bama to be Bama, they got to start asserting themselves at the line of scrimmage. I think that starts today.”

On the ground, Alabama has run the ball 74 times for 463 yards (6.26 average rush), numbers boosted by WR Henry Ruggs III’s 75-yard rushing touchdown play. Running backs Najee Harris, Keilan Robinson, Jerome Ford and Brian Robinson Jr. are responsible for 62 rushes for 340 yards through two games.
