ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit weighed in on Alabama’s current QB battle Thursday on Twitter. Herbstreit┬ásaid┬áthe battle could continue past fall camp, with two quarterbacks splitting time early in the season.

Alabama has replaced its starting quarterback from the previous year in each of the past three seasons. Junior Cooper Bateman, redshirt freshman Blake Barnett and true freshman Jalen Hurts are all being considered for the position.

Herbstreit added that he believes Hurts will be considered in some capacity, although it seems he thinks the job is Barnett’s to lose.

Alabama will open its season against USC on Sept. 3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
