Landon Collins releases farewell statement to Giants organization, former teammates
Landon Collins is about to hit the free agent market but before he does that, he wanted to wish the organization one last farewell.
The 33rd overall selection from the 2015 NFL Draft is leaving New York after several seasons of success on the field for the Giants in a move that is confusing to many NFL insiders. Why the franchise would let go of a 25-year-old player without any form of compensation does seem odd, all things considered.
During his NFL career, the Giant defensive back has racked up 428 tackles, 32 pass deflections, eight interceptions and made 59 starts in four seasons. An All-Pro selection following the 2016 season, while Collins has failed to appear in every game for the Giants over the previous two seasons, he has consistently been one of the franchise’s best players during that span.
Just before he officially hit the free agency market, Collins released the following statement on Twitter:
“I want to thank the Giants organization for believing in me and allowing me to have 4 great years in NY. I can’t express how great it was to play with my teammates and in one of the greatest cities in the world. I will forever cherish my time in the blue and white and the relationships I have built in the building and in my community. Now on to the next chapter….”
Following his departure from New York, Collins is expected to land one of the richest free agent deals this offseason in the NFL.
