Lane Kiffin tells FAU season ticket holders he wants to be school's best coach ever
Even though he’s busy in Tuscaloosa with Peach Bowl prep, outgoing offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin found time to address Florida Atlantic season ticket holders – and all his Twitter followers – in a letter posted Friday night.
Highlights of the letter include referring to Alabama as pinnacle of college football, stating a desire to be FAU’s best coach in its young history and revealing that he will donate to scholarship funds and send fans an autographed photo if they purchase season tickets.

Kiffin accepted the FAU job Monday and was formally introduced as the Owls’ head coach the following day. Alabama named analyst Steve Sarkisian as its next offensive coordinator on Friday, but Nick Saban reiterated at his press conference that Kiffin will stay on as play-caller through the Crimson Tide’s postseason.
He is a man of his word, “running through the T, singing rocky top all night long after we beat Florida next year”.
Can he be their best coach ever in one year?
Considering that they’ve only been playing the game for 15 years and have an all time record of 76-115, it wouldn’t be a head-turner if he was. They have one Sun Belt conference championship, and that was with an 8-5 record. Two very minor bowl appearances.
I expect he’ll load up on partial-qualifiers and character-issue ballers and win 10 games in 2018. He’s already set the tone with his QB.
There is a good reason why Kiffin wants to be the best coach he can be, within the next couple of years, if he turns FAU into a winner, he will move on to greener pastures. Hopefully he has grown up and will be a better influence this time around.
