With 5:02 remaining in regulation and Alabama leading the Duke Blue Devils 35-3, freshman quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa entered to make his Crimson Tide debut.

The younger brother of Alabama starting quarterback, Tua, Taulia was a four-star prospect and the No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the 2019 class, per the 247Sports Composite.

On his first play as a collegiate quarterback, the younger Tagovailoa handed the football to sophomore running back Jerome Ford. Finding a crease on the left side, Ford was able to take it 37-yards for a touchdown to extend the score to the game’s final, 42-3.

The SEC Network captured Tua’s excitement, and the Heisman Trophy candidate shared what the moment meant to him on Twitter.

While Taulia did not get to attempt a pass in the game, Tua excelled through the air. The junior completed 26-31 passes for 336 yards and four touchdowns.

Finishing second in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2018, Tua threw for 3,966 yards and 43 touchdowns a year ago. There is still a long way to go to reach those numbers again, but Tua and the Tide are off to a roaring start.

Alabama next hosts New Mexico State at 4:00PM ET on Saturday, September 7.
