Fresh off signing a contract to become LSU’s new offensive coordinator, Matt Canada is already taking the opportunity to throw some shade at the Tigers’ biggest rival within the SEC West.

Canada was appointed as the man in charge of LSU’s offensive scheme by head coach Ed Orgeron. Canada will be coming from Pitt — where the Panthers were averaging over 40 points per contest.

Orgeron is hoping Canada’s diverse offense can be a hit down in Baton Rouge.

During his introductory press conference, Canada had this to say about rival Alabama:

“I’m 1-0 vs Alabama. We beat them at NIU.”

Canada coached at Northern Illinois from 1998-2003 — and then again for one season in 2011. In 2003, NIU went into Tuscaloosa and beat the Crimson Tide by a score of 19-16.

It would be apropos to point out that Nick Saban was not the coach of Alabama during this contest. Canada may be 1-0 against Alabama, but he isn’t undefeated against Saban.
