Alabama does not currently hold a commitment from a quarterback prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle and with the departure of Taulia Tagovailoa to Maryland this offseason, Nick Saban’s program needs to identify a quality prospect to add depth to the team’s QB room for the 2021 season.

The Crimson Tide may have found a recruit to fit that profile as Starkville, Miss., native Luke Altmyer was recently offered a scholarship by Alabama. However, one important note, the four-star Mississippi signal-caller committed to Florida State back in February.

Altmyer announced Alabama’s scholarship offer on Monday. Ole Miss and Georgia Tech are also actively recruiting the Starkville native.

If you are wondering why Mike Leach’s program isn’t in on Altmyer, Mississippi State landed a commitment from Lubbock, Texas four-star QB prospect Sawyer Robertson back in March.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Altmyer is rated as a four-star prospect, the No. 14 pro-style passer in the country and a top 300 overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings.

During the last two years on the high school gridiron, Altmyer has passed for 5,045 yards and 56 touchdowns.

Take a look at Altmyer’s junior season highlight reel to get an idea of what he type of potential he has at the next level.
