Mac Jones injury update: NFL insider shares diagnosis, latest on former Alabama QB

Mac Jones hopped off the field during the fourth quarter of the New England Patriots’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens, a worrisome sight for fans.
To be fair, you never want to see your starting quarterback even limping off the field. But hopping? Well, that wasn’t a great sign for the Patriots.
Now a day later, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter is reporting on Jones’ status, and it unsurprisingly isn’t encouraging news for New England.
Patriots’ QB Mac Jones has what doctors diagnosed as a severe high ankle sprain that would cause many to have surgery, per sources. He is likely to miss multiple games. Jones and the Patriots still are discussing his options and the best way to proceed.

It’s interesting that Schefter noted that the sprain would “cause many to have surgery” because whether or not Jones goes under the knife is still an open question.
Reading between the lines, it sounds like multiple games missed could end up being the best-case scenario for Jones and the Patriots.
