Malachi Moore is coming back to Tuscaloosa for another season. The experienced defensive back is using his extra year of eligibility to be a fifth-year “super senior” in 2024.

ESPN’s Chris Low had previously shared that Moore was expected to return in a report focusing on Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry. Moore confirmed his plans in a Tuesday post on his Instagram account.

With Moore, the Alabama defense returns a player who earned a starting role as a freshman and has played in 52 games over four seasons. His freshman and senior seasons particularly stand out statistically.

In 2020, Moore was the Crimson Tide’s starter at the star position. In 11 games of the COVID-shortened season, Moore posted career highs in pass breakups (6) and interceptions (3). He also had the only forced fumble and fumble recovery in his career so far.

This past season, Moore logged 52 total tackles, including 5 TFLs – both career highs. In coverage, Moore had 5 passes defended including 1 interception, bringing his career totals to 16 PBUs and 5 INTs.
