Malachi Moore, an Alabama defensive back, hinted at the “Crimson Crane” celebration on Saturday when facing rival Auburn.

Former Crimson Tide wide receivers Jameson Williams and John Metchie came up with the “Crimson Crane” celebration where the players imitate a crane with the “crane kick” from the 1984 movie, The Karate Kid. Moore said the celebration is remembered well among current Tides players.

“We might. We just have to see how the game goes,” Moore told reporters on Monday about it coming back.

Moore, an Alabama native, understands well that the Iron Bowl rivalry game could wind up closer than the gap between the 2 teams’ records. Auburn had a 6-7 record in 2021 when the Tigers pushed the Tide to 5 overtimes.

“It’s definitely a little kid’s dream being from Alabama growing up, playing football, watching football,” Moore told reporters. “I’ve been watching the Iron Bowl. It’s definitely a blessing playing in this game. A lot of people look at the game … as a big one in the state. It just means a lot to suit up for the Crimson Tide, to go out there and play in this great rivalry.”

Moore reiterated that the Tide players who didn’t come from Alabama get the magnitude of the in-state Thanksgiving weekend rivalry with Auburn. The Tide lead the all-time series 49-37-1.

“I feel like our team really understands the rivalry. When you come here, you put that Alabama ‘A’ on your chest,” Moore said. “That’s something everyone is all into. It’s basically like they’re from Alabama at this point.”
