Nick Saban's bark doesn't scare Maria Taylor: ESPN reporter responds following Saban's heated response
Nick Saban wasn’t happy following Alabama’s 51-14 win over Louisville. In fact, he was rather angry and “pissed,” he said during his press conference.
Before Saban could speak with the media, he spoke to ESPN’s Maria Taylor on the field following the blowout win. And he laid into her after a QB question.
Taylor asked Saban, “Everyone had questions about who was going to start at QB when this game started, what answers did you have about your QBs after watching both of them play tonight?”
That question set Saban off.
“Well, I still like both guys,” Saban said. “I think both guys are good players. I think both guys can help our team. So, why do you continually try to get me to say something that doesn’t respect one of them? I’m not going to! So quit asking!”

Following the exchange, Taylor took to Twitter to express she was only doing her job.
Don’t mind me…Just doing my job. On to the next game. See you at @VT_Football at @FSUFootball

You can do your job and not ask that question though genius! Dumb twat!!
Not when your job is to ask that question cause crazed fans like yoursef apparently live for this kind of sensationalism. Tw*t does mean pathetic, weak man bashing a woman just for doing her job, right?
Uh-oh.
Forgot my audience.
My bad!
Why would she not ask that question? It’s the biggest story about Bama football since the NCG, for gawd’s sake! I thought she phrased it pretty respectfully. What did you learn tonight about your QBs? Replace “QBs” with any other team unit and he’s answering the question. I have tons of respect for Nick, but he’s got to get over this and just coach-speak it away. Telling the press to “quit asking” is not a tactic that has ever, ever worked.
Saban’s answer was pretty weak. He didn’t need to do that and he is the one that came off looking bad.
It was a legitimate question that any coach who plays two QB’s who are in a competition should expect to get.
They will ask Dabo Swinney and Kirby Smart the same question. I bet neither reacts like that…
But they aren’t badgered by media with the same question over and over. Neither of those 2 are always tactful either.
Everyone has to remember that he has been asked this question for months! He has respectfully answered it many times and requested not to be asked about it. It did no good so you say it so folks will understand. It’s kinda like the way you do your kid when he keeps doing the same thing over and over after you told them to stop. I saw it as protecting the privacy and respecting these 2 players. RTR!!
It wasn’t the same question. A reporter asked him what he learned about his players in the first game of the season; this was a new question.
The reporter also phrased the question so that he had tons of ways to answer it without generating even more distractions for his team. If he didn’t want to give away that he learned that Tua is the starter and he’s going to try to play Hurts enough to keep him happy and prevent a redshirt, then he could’ve just said he learned that they are both good players who still have some things they need to work on to keep getting better.
Instead, he was unprofessional. So he is either a) a jerk b) made a mistake or c) intentionally did this to distract from the QB situation by generating headlines about him instead of his players. Or d) All of the above.
His anger came from the fact that he is been askeded that question hundreds of times this off-season. He has answered it the exact same way every time and has actually started getting pretty firm with other reporters as well. She as a reporter knowing all of that still decided to try to push him to change his answer. Yes she asked to calmly but she was absolutely being rude. They were hoping for something like this and they knew to expect him getting angry after asking it over and over and over and over and over.
It gets old.
Not the same question because it was about a game that had just occurred.
Badgered?!? It comes with the special treatment bama gets by ESPN who bullies the ncaa into including a third place conference team in the NC. If its to hard when you win how hard will it be when lose some this year? Get over yourselves. Every coach is asked every game at least once about a player or unit. The man is losing it.
Yes, the NCAA is famous for the NCAA College Football Tournament, or “January Madness” as some call it. SMDH at Bama bullying their way in.
Don’t worry about zoucat…He is probably delusional from lack of food.
Game time interviews are always dumb questions. Get over yourself you little b.
Yes get over yourself you crying b…
Stop crying, Nick. Maria’s not going to kick your butt.
What do so many Bama fans say he has been asked the same question over and over? Did y’all even hear the question. It was about how they played this game. He has never been asked that question as they hadn’t played a game yet.
Why does ESPN send a dumb uneducated Woman out there to interview football coaches.
Females should stick to teaching school and raising children
You win the dumbest comment on the Internet today award. Be proud.
Sexist piece of trash.
So is a sexist piece of trash worse than racist piece of trash, Col. Reb?
