Mark Sears, Alabama guard, announces final decision on 2023-24 season
Mark Sears was a key piece for Alabama during his first season with Nate Oats’ program. Fortunately, his time in Tuscaloosa has not quite come to a close.
In a video announcement, Sears confirmed on Tuesday that he is indeed returning to the Crimson Tide for the 2023-24 season. Sears had been testing the waters for the 2023 NBA Draft but is withdrawing for another year of college basketball.

Sears transferred to Alabama after beginning his career at Ohio, instantly becoming a key piece for the Crimson Tide backcourt. He started all 37 games a season ago for the SEC champs (regular-season and conference tournament) and the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Last season, Sears averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game for Alabama as the team’s second-leading scorer behind Brandon Miller. Sears will be in line for an even bigger role next season as the Tide look to defend their SEC title.
