On Tuesday, it was revealed that Alabama’s starting right tackle, Matt Womack, had broken his foot and would miss the entire spring.

That’s obviously a big loss for the Crimson Tide, but Womack is an experienced player, having started at the position as a redshirt sophomore last season. Therefore, he can likely work his way back into game shape by the time summer camp starts.

As you can see in the tweet below, Womack’s father updated his injury status, saying his son had successful surgery and should be back in about six weeks:

That’s about the best news the Tide could hope for after news of the injury broke. Womack played a key role last season, so having him ready to go for 2018 is a must.

It’ll be interesting to see who steps up this spring to replace him, getting valuable reps as the first-team right tackle.
