Media reacts to Alabama's blowout win at Tennessee without Jaylen Waddle
Alabama rolled to another win on Saturday with a blowout victory over Tennessee to move to 5-0 on the season.
QB Mac Jones rolled up 387 passing yards on a 25-for-31 clip, and RB Najee Harris rang up 96 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the 48-17 win.
The game may be remembered for a season-ending broken ankle to Alabama star WR Jaylen Waddle, who was tackled and rolled his ankle on the opening kickoff. Waddle was helped off the field, and later left the stadium in an ambulance.
Here’s a sampling of media reaction during Alabama’s rout in Knoxville:
Najee Harris is averse to being tackled today.

Jaylen Waddle was on his way to a Heisman finalist type season. Now out for the year, and we’ve probably seen his last game at Alabama.
Truly, truly stinks for him.

Jones is only the 8th player in the past 10 seasons to throw for at least 387 yards without a passing touchdown, according to @collegefb_ref. https://t.co/aBE4HvjXT2

Awful news. One of CFB’s best and most exciting players. Hope his recovery goes well. https://t.co/jdeFwsYYmU

Young getting a mostly complete Alabama offense around him. DeVonta Smith, John Metchie, Najee Harris all out there for third down. O-line was already without Deonte Brown and Evan Neal and will continue that way, with Kendall Randolph and Chris Owens in there. https://t.co/PW6omxQ2Ky

Bryce Young in. Mac Jones misses a 400-yard game (after three in a row) by 13 yards.

Is Mac Jones the best deep ball thrower in CFB? Yes he is.

Mac Jones has tried really hard to throw at least three picks today. None of them were picked.

Alabama being so freaking dominant overall hurts Mac Jones’ Heisman chances and it’s a shame…

Najee Harris’ 14 rush TD are tied with Lamar Jackson for the 2nd-most through his team’s first 5 games over the last 25 seasons.
Only Ricky Williams had more with 20 in 1998.
