Mel Kiper getting called out for comment about Jalen Hurts
On Friday night, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Jalen Hurts with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Eagles have a veteran starting quarterback on their roster in Carson Wentz. Presumably, with that in mind, ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. commented during the broadcast that Hurts “is happy being a backup.”
Fans and media members were quick to call out Kiper on social media. Considering that Hurts transferred from Alabama to Oklahoma for another opportunity as starting quarterback after being benched in favor of Tua Tagovailoa.
Here’s a sample of some of the heat Kiper is taking on Twitter:
Mel kiper jalen hurts is a winner not a backup. Some guys just win everywhere they go.

Mel Kiper said Jalen Hurts is more than happy to be a backup and… he would not be.

Mel Kiper once again wrong.
“Hurts will be happy to be Wentz’ backup”
No real QB thinks like that. They want the starting gig especially when they are young.
Booger thought Lamar Jackson should be a WR so can’t listen to him either.

“Hurts is very happy being a backup”
No he’s not Mel Kiper? Nobody wants to be a backup.
