When the new Pro Football Hall of Fame arrives in Canton, every media outlet that covers the NFL wants to hear from them. Legendary safety Ed Reed is among those new inductees. One of the media members he talked to was Terez A. Paylor for the Yahoo! Sports NFL Podcast. Paylor shared a preview clip online and it includes some high praise for former Alabama DB Eddie Jackson.

In the brief clip, Paylor asks Reed which of his peers he believes belong in the Hall of Fame. Reed names a who’s who of great safeties: Sean Taylor, Troy Polamalu, Eric Berry and Earl Thomas. Then, without Paylor asking about current players, Reed starts talking about Jackson.

“You know, I like Eddie Jackson coming up, too, man. He continue to do the things he’s doing in Chicago. He’s representing right, you know. But it’s about being consistent, you know, at the end of the day. You know, he’s still young. He’s still young. He’s only the second year in. You know, I know that’s early, but you know, I like where he’s moving,” Reed said in the clip.

It would be putting words in Reed’s mouth to say he’s calling Jackson a future Hall of Famer, but as you can see in the clip, Jackson’s play has certainly gotten the attention of Reed, who lumps him in with some true greats at the safety position.

Jackson was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He earned All-Pro honors and was named to the Pro Bowl last season. In his young career, Jackson has recorded 121 tackles and eight interceptions, including five defensive touchdowns.
