NFL analyst says Alabama's Minkah Fitzpatrick is 'bigger' Tyrann Mathieu
Could Alabama’s Minkah Fitzpatrick have the potential to be as good as former LSU and current Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu?
NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah compared the two defensive backs in an article on NFL.com.
“Alabama’s Minkah Fitzpatrick jumped off the screen when I studied the Crimson Tide’s 27-19 win over Texas A&M on Saturday night,” Jeremiah noted. “He recorded 5 tackles, including a team-high 2 for loss, forced a fumble and picked off a pass to help the Tide remain undefeated.”
Indeed, Fitzpatrick shined on Saturday.
Jeremiah said he may be the least talked about elite player in the country, and compared him to the “Honey Badger.”
“Fitzpatrick could be Tyrann Mathieu in a bigger package,” Jeremiah said. “He has the same ball skills. He’s bigger (Fitzpatrick is 6-foot-1, 202 pounds, per school measurements; Mathieu is listed at 5-9, 186) and probably faster than Mathieu.
“He also has similar instincts and toughness. I think Fitzpatrick gives you all of the versatility that Mathieu possesses.”
Jeremiah listed in his article five takeaways from Fitzpatrick’s performance against Texas A&M. He cited his versatility, toughness and makeup speed among other positive attributes.
He (MF) is already better than that former idiot.
Luckily it seems he (TM) has matured and gotten his head on his shoulder and I respect him for that.
MF could be a bust in the NFL or never make it. As of right now though MF > TM
You’d take a college junior over a pro bowler? Do you work for the Jets, perchance?
Comprehension isn’t your strong suit?
Let me draft MF or TM and I’d draft MF.
AT THIS POINT MF>TM.
MF hasn’t played in the NFL so he can’t be a pro bowler. Comparing his non existent NFL career to TM is stupid. I’m comparing their college experience.
You and LSUMC love to talk about comprehension for no apparent reason. You’re picking a college player with a full year of eligibility left over one of the better safeties in the NFL. That’s like drafting Collin Klein over Russell Wilson just because he has 6 inches on the guy, or drafting Tua Tagovailoa over Tom Brady because Brady’s gonna retire in a year or two. Also forgetting that Mark Barron is the only player from the Bama secondary to be worth a fig in the NFL since George Teague
My bad, I completely forgot Landon Collins and Kareem Jackson existed. Point still stands, not a good ratio
