Good news for Calvin Ridley — the Atlanta Falcons wide receiver’s injury may not keep him out for long.

On Thursday night, Ridley exited the Falcons’ road game against the Carolina Panthers in the second quarter, and the former Alabama standout didn’t return. On Friday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Ridley has been diagnosed with a left mid-foot sprain and is considered day to day.

Ridley underwent an MRI on Friday, but Rapoport noted that “the tests didn’t show much, so the hope is he’s back shortly.”

It’s been an impressive start to 2020 for Ridley, who has 43 receptions for 657 yards and six touchdowns in eight games. It’s his third NFL season, all of which have been with the Falcons, who selected him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Ridley previously played at Alabama from 2015-17.

The Falcons’ next game is against the Denver Broncos on Nov. 8, but it’s unclear whether Ridley will be ready to play by then. Atlanta then has a Week 10 bye before returning to action against the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 22.

However, if Ridley’s injury remains minor, then it seems like there’s a good chance he wouldn’t miss more than one game (if that) because Atlanta’s bye is coming up.
