Derrick Henry had an incredible run with the Titans last season.

The Tennessee running back led the NFL with 1,540 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns during the 2019 season. Even more impressive, Henry tore threw defenses during the NFL playoffs, rushing for 446 yards in three contests against some of the best defenses the league had to throw at the Titans.

Despite all his incredible efforts on the field, Henry was not rewarded with a long-term contract this offseason. Instead, Tennessee franchise-tagged the NFL’s best running back for the 2020 season. Giving Henry the tag locks him with the Titans on a one-year deal worth $10.27 million.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, that’s all Henry should be expecting to make this season as the Titans and their star running back have not reached an agreement on the upcoming season.

The deadline for negotiations between franchises and franchise-tagged players is Wednesday.

If no deal is reached by that point, Henry will either have to suit up on a one-year deal or he’ll use his power to sit out and force the Titans to react.
