Nick Saban was visibly upset with the officials when he returned to the field at South Florida following a weather delay.
With arms flailing and an extended conversation, Saban voiced his opinion as Alabama trailed 3-0, and the teams dealt with about an hour delay.
It was unclear what the issue was that frustrated Saban, as Alabama had 1 penalty for 10 yards before the interruption. South Florida had 66 total yards, while Alabama had 53 with about 12:24 remaining in the first half.
The Alabama offense struggled as new starting quarterback Tyler Buchner took over, and was 4-for-10 to start the game for 25 yards. Jase McClellan had 3 carries for 18 yards, and Isaiah Bond had 2 catches for 19 yards.
On defense, Alabama had trouble slowing down USF as the Bulls resumed a drive and went 10 plays for 45 yards over 3:46. Alabama has yet to produce a drive of more than 6 plays.
