Alabama OL Elijah Pritchett made the wrong kind of headlines earlier this month when he was arrested for knowingly transmitting a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

If Pritchett is charged, he could face up to $500 in fines or 3 months in jail. His football status, however, is currently unaffected. Nick Saban was asked about Pritchett during a Wednesday media session at Disneyland.

“We’re handling this set of circumstances internally, and that’s all I can really comment about it,” Saban told reporters, per TideIllustrated’s Tony Tsoukalas. “His status on the team has not been affected to this point.”

A top-40 prospect in the Class of 2022 from Columbus, Georgia, Pritchett is in his second season with UA. He saw limited playing time in 2022, taking a redshirt for the year.

Pritchett enters the Rose Bowl having played in all 13 games of the Tide’s 2023 campaign as a reserve lineman. Earlier this month, Pritchett entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal but withdrew the following day returning to the team.

No. 4 Alabama faces No. 1 Michigan on New Year’s Day in the Rose Bowl, a College Football Playoff semifinal. The game will kick off at 5 p.m. ET, airing on ESPN.
