Nick Saban has been money when it comes to getting Alabama to a win in Atlanta. In fact, the legendary head coach of the Crimson Tide continued an immaculate run over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

Entering Saturday, Saban was a perfect 3-0 against the Bulldogs in Atlanta. That performance included a pair of wins over Kirby Smart and another over Mark Richt during the 2012 season.

With Saturday’s 27-24 win, Saban is now 4-0 all-time against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. Those wins are also pertinent to the ongoing College Football Playoff debate.

Following Alabama’s previous wins over Georgia in the SEC title, the Tide would go on to play for a national championship each season. Saban would lead the team to the CFP National Championship in 2018 and 2021 (both losses) while the Tide would capture the BCS Championship following the 2012 season.

This year, Alabama’s Playoff case is unclear with the Tide entering Championship Weekend ranked No. 7. The team does fit the traditional criteria of a 1-loss SEC Champ, but a jump from No. 7 into the final top 4 would be an unprecedented move, to say the least.
