The Alabama Crimson Tide definitely miss star punter JK Scott this year, but now Scott is doing his punting for the Green Bay Packers.

The Tide have turned over punting duties to true freshman Skyler DeLong, but there have been some growing pains.

On Monday, coach Nick Saban discussed the punting woes — one of the only question marks facing the Tide this year (via AL.com):

“The thing about Skyler is he’s been a lot better in practice and done a good job in practice and actually had a really good week in practice last week,” Saban said. “We know he’s capable.

“I just think that maybe his confidence in the game is not what he needs it to be right now. And I think we need to support him and try to help him develop the consistency in game situations that will allow him to have success, and we certainly need for him to do that.”

It may not seem like it, but DeLong has punted 15 times this year. He’s only averaging 35.9 yards per kick, though.

If the Tide ever do find themselves in a tight game in the fourth quarter, that kind of punting isn’t going to cut it.
