Nick Saban discusses growth of Terrion Arnold, explains why he's seen success this season
Earning praise from Nick Saban is generally tough to come by. But, redshirt-sophomore defensive back Terrion Arnold has done just that thanks to his play for Alabama this season.
After redshirting in 2021, Arnold appeared in 11 games for the Tide in 2022 and landed on the All-SEC Freshman team. He has followed that breakout campaign with an even better ’23 season, ranking 4th on the team with 52 total tackles and leading Alabama in interceptions (3) and pass breakups (10). He’s done so all while rotating through multiple spots on defense.
“Terrion has really done a good job for us. Because of injuries he’s had to play multiple positions, which has been challenging for him,” Saban said Monday. “He’s had to play star at times even in some cases, with guys out of the game. He hasn’t had a lot of reps at it.”
Saban applauds Arnold’s mindset through being shuffled around the unit so often. The former 5-star recruit out of Tallahassee, Fl. has been more than willing to do whatever is needed for this defense to succeed.
“He’s been a trooper at doing it, trying to look at it as a challenge and go out and improve each week,” Saban added. “His coverage ability has been really good, I think he’s played extremely well.”
