Nick Saban had a lot of his angry Saban moments in Alabama’s 40-17 road win at Mississippi State in Week 5. One thing he was certainly pleased with after the game in his press conference was the play of the offensive line.

After the game, Saban was asked about the performance of his offensive line. He responded positively:

“They played really well. Those guys, I mean you all could tell they were plugging and stunting a lot, right?,” he said. “But, I told you that too. That’s really tough on offensive linemen when you have to block movement and plug-ins all of the time. I think the offensive line did a fantastic job of controlling the line of scrimmage, I don’t know what we ended up rushing for. But, I think that’s important to our team to have that kind of balance.”

The play of the offensive line was one of the biggest concerns for Alabama’s offense through Week 5 of the season. In 5 games, the offensive line has allowed 20 sacks, which is tied for 6th-most in the nation.

Mississippi State accounted for 8 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. Alabama did its best offensive performance of the season with 357 total yards accounted for, 193 of them coming from the rushing game.
